The name HANZLIK has been associated with Locks and Keys in Northamptonshire for over 60 years. My father, Josef, a Czech immigrant, set up his locksmithing business in a small whitewashed lock-up garage in Kettering, where he made keys, repaired and rebuilt antique locks and carried out all other aspects of the locksmith’s work. He soon became known as “Joe the Locksmith” and in 1951, he was featured on the BBC radio programme “Down your Way” presented by Richard Dimbleby

The family moved to Northampton in 1958 and Josef had a small shop in Northampton town centre. He was in that shop until 1978, when he retired. He died in 1980.
My shop in Lutterworth Road, Abington Northampton opened in 1981, and has become very well established. We cut all types of keys, and have recently obtained a computerised key cutting machine, which allows us to cut keys to code number, if the original key is not available. Numbered keys are used on many locks fitted to office furniture, so keys can be produced quickly and cheaply, without the need to replace the locks.
We stock a wide variety of locks and security fittings from all the well known manufacturers, and can generally assist in solving most physical security problems.
Our workshop can cut keys to pattern, or to locks if the key is lost. We also can build locks to operate on the same key, or design a Master Keyed system. This means that individual locks will have their own unique key, but a Master Key will open them all.
This system is mainly used in commercial applications, but can also be utilized for care homes, schools, etc.
We supply and install many types of safes for domestic and commercial customers, details or which are on the “Safes” page of this website.
Finally, we can offer a security consultancy service to guide you into making your property secure, in accordance with your Insurers recommendations.
